I realized recently that I’ve made a lot of “noise” music. I don’t exactly know what “noise” music is for everyone else, but for me its something I create because I’m not really that talented when it comes to building “songs” or writing music…or even playing instruments. So more than once in the last 6 or so years, I’ve had fun experimenting with different ambient sounds and textures, layering them over each other until they sound appealing.
Now, I dont want to pretend I am a musician. I’m not. But somehow, I’ve made a bunch of stuff under the name “Scum”.
So I wanted to put together a tape of every noise track I’ve ever made. I just finished the layout for the first tape. I think I’m going to make 3 whole tapes with roughly the same tracks, and then drop them off at a weird record store and tell them just to give the damn things out or something.
Here is the first one, that I made in an hour on graph paper after waking up from a 4 hour, post-Vegas nap. Had to take a photo with my phone since my scanner is being a pisser.
Once I get the tracks together I’m going to post them here. I also included a URL on the tape so whoever ends up with it can get some additional downloads.
