Speed Creating – Day 15 – Zombie Fiction

January 15th, 2011

Sometimes I write Zombie fiction.  This is one of those times.  This one is called “Cakewalk” and its in a few parts.  This is part one.  It will hopefully end up on the amazing “Tales of World War Z” site in the near future.

Cakewalk – Part One

There is a point on the horizon.  Take that point and split it in two.  Split it again, and again, and again until you reach a space, one that cannot be split.  Within that space you’ll find the most immense horror you can imagine.  Oceans of pain, not just the type of pain that your flesh so poorly translates, but the actual essence of it.

A thing.

Speed Creating – Day 14 – Brian Tumors Download

January 15th, 2011

brian tumors remix cover

Every once in a while I pick up DJ shifts at this shitty bar in the West Village.  I don’t really do any “DJ”-ing, I just plug in my laptop, play a bunch of beer-pong jams, and drink free beer all night.  Its a pretty great gig.

Last night I picked up a shift, thinking I could just jump on the wifi at the bar and post my creation.  Didn’t happen.  No one at the bar knew the Wifi password so I was kind of stuck.  So I had to put my “creation” out on twitter, since I could only work from my phone.  None of this really matters though.

My friend Drew is in an awesome punk/hardcore band called Brain Tumors.  If you live in or around Minneapolis, go see them.  In the process of creating their new EP, they gave their masters to our friend Ben (also known as Oceans In Space) to do a mix of the album.  Not only did he do an awesome mix, that I’m sure you will eventually hear, he did an absolutely batshit-insane remix that turns the whole thing into some kind of cyborg-grind-synthesizer-shitstorm.  I’m considering it a new kind of music.

Speed Creating – Day 13 – Movies That Bugged Me Out As a Kid: Body Parts

January 13th, 2011

I’ve started digging up the movies that freaked me out as a kid and re visiting them, for no reason.  Anything I saw in the video store, or on this weird free pay-per-view trailers channel that gave me nightmares is fair game.  Read or don’t.  Most of these will be super lame and only interesting to no one.  Thanks.

Body Parts Movie Poster

This one, like every other MTBMEOAAK (wow what an awful acronym) came from a trailer on the aforementioned pay-per-view trailers channel.  Between the campy, pulpy-ass trailers for shit like Hardware and Shocker (we’ll get to that one later) there was a trailer for a pretty serious-looking horror flick called Body Parts, starring Jeff Fahey, one of the crazier looking dudes in the 90’s horror movie game.  Second place goes to Brad Dourif, who is also in this movie!  Seriously their scenes together are awesome…like a “weird, portentous and creepy stare” competition, but I’m getting ahead of myself.
